Working with Accounts : Using an EDI 888 Document to Populate Custom Field Values

Using an EDI 888 Document to Populate Custom Field Values

If you are going to use an EDI 888 document to populate the values of your custom fields, you must indicate the specific EDI location that will provide those values; you specify this EDI location at the time you create the custom field definition.

If you want the EDI location to accommodate different values depending on a qualifier, you can specify an EDI qualifier location/value pair. You complete these fields when you create (add) a custom field definition. The fields are defined as follows:

*
EDI Location - The EDI Location field (segment and position) holds the custom field value associated with the Product for a specific vendor/retailer relationship. For example, N102 (N1 is the segment and 02 is the position) holds the custom field value.
*
EDI Qualifier Location/Value pair - If you want the EDI Location field to accommodate multiple values depending on a qualifier, you can specify an EDI qualifier location/value pair. The EDI Qual. Loc. field holds the EDI location of the EDI qualifier value (EDI Qual. Value field) which determines the custom field value to associate with the Product for a specific vendor/retailer relationship.

For example, you create two custom field definitions (CustomFieldOne and CustomFieldTwo), both with an EDI Location of N102 and an EDI Qual. Loc. of N101.

CustomFieldOne has an EDI Qual. Value of CD and CustomFieldTwo has an EDI Qual. Value of EF.

If N101=CD, then N102 is the custom field value for CustomFieldOne.
If N101=EF, then N102 is the custom field value for CustomFieldTwo.
