Overview : Navigating OpenText Active Catalogue : Search Bar

Search Bar

Most pages have a search bar. There are a few exceptions such as the color and size code pages. Also, except for the EQUAL MULTI option for a Product, the search bar displays the same search options that are available by clicking Catalogue > Advanced Search (which opens the Find Catalogue Data page). Searches have no context or relation to the current page; searches are performed from the “top level. Having the search bar on all pages provides a convenient way to search without having to go back to the Find Catalogue Data page.

By default, for each new session of Catalogue, the search bar is closed when the page opens. You can open or close the search bar by clicking on it. If you open the search bar, the filter bar closes; you cannot use both at the same time.

Note: The system remembers whether you have the filter bar or search bar open; when you navigate to other pages, the bar that was open remains open (for that session).

Even though the search functionality is identical on the search bar and the Advanced Search (Find Catalogue Data) page (except for this difference), the options are displayed slightly differently in the two places. On the search bar, when you select an option from the drop-down list, the appropriate corresponding options (drop-down lists and fields) display on the page.

For example, if you select Selection Code from the drop-down list, EQUAL and BEGIN display in the adjacent drop-down list.

However, if you select Product from the drop-down list, the Identifier, Description, and Compressed options appear.

Depending on which of these options you select (Identifier, Description, or Compressed), the drop-down list options for BEGIN, EQUAL, and CONTAINS will change. For example, if you select Description or Compressed, EQUAL is the only valid value that appears.

See “Finding and Viewing Data for information about using the specific search options.

Note: You cannot enter a copyright or registered trademark in a search field; no results are returned.
