Working with Downloads : Downloading Data : Overview

Overview

There are two download methods for obtaining data on a one-time basis:

*
Batch file download—Catalogue allows you to download data to your electronic mailbox. The data can be exported in the following ways:
*
EDI format to your electronic mailbox—This is the default method. Catalogue sends the data to your electronic mailbox in EDI format.
*
qXML format to your electronic mailbox on Inovisworks—This method requires some set up to be performed by OpenText Cloud Support Services (CSS), and is only available to customers who use Inovisworks as their VAN. See “Contacting Technical Support .
Note: These methods are not limited to one-time downloads. Once they are set up, they apply to all exported data.
*
Text file download—Catalogue allows you to download data directly to your desktop as a text file. This is a two-stage process that allows you to access the retrieved data multiple times.

In the first stage, you select items using the download basket, and Catalogue retrieves your data and stores it.

In the second stage, you download the data using different options to create a text file that you can save to your computer. Text files can be opened in an application such as MS Excel which allows you to view and manipulate the data. See “Opening a Downloaded CSV Text File in MS Excel .
