Maintaining Catalogue Data : Adding and Editing Custom Field Values for a Product

Adding and Editing Custom Field Values for a Product

Catalogue supports account-specific custom fields (attributes) at the Product level, thereby allowing Intelligent Web Forms (IWF) integration with Catalogue.

The vendor must first add the custom fields (called custom field definitions) using the browser user interface (UI). Once the custom fields have been added, they can be populated with values by either the vendor (using the UI, an EDI 888 document, or web services) or the retailer (using the UI or web services).

Note: Once a vendor defines a custom field, the field is available to be populated by all retailers who have access to a particular Product in that vendor’s catalogue.

See “Adding a Custom Field Definition for details on how to add a custom field definition.

To add or edit custom field values for a Product

1
*
*

The Product List page opens.

2
Note: If custom fields have not been defined for any Products in this account, the Account-specific Custom Field Values section, at the bottom of the page, does not display.
3
In the Account-specific Custom Field Values section, in the Account Name text box, type the name of the account whose custom field values you want to edit.

As you type the account name, a drop-down list appears and auto-fills with account names that match the characters you are typing. The more characters you type, the closer the match, and the less items that appear in the drop-down list.

Select an account name from this list.

Note: To further narrow the list, you can select the Fields Present check box; the list will display only those accounts that have at least one custom field value populating a custom field.
4
For each custom field for the selected account name, type a value in the corresponding Value field. If a custom field supports multiline values, a More link displays. Once you have entered a value for the first custom field value, click More to display the field for the next custom field value. Repeat this process to add additional custom field values.
Note: Do not use any of the following illegal characters > ^ ` [ ] * ~
5
Click Save to save the values. The new values are saved for the selected account.
6
Repeat Steps 3-5, as needed, to assign custom field values for other accounts.
