GTIN Validation

Data is validated when it is saved to OpenText Active Catalogue.

When adding or updating GTINs, OpenText Active Catalogue checks to make sure that:

The following characters do not appear in any data > ^ ` [ ] * ~

If the Prefix Validation compliance check is turned on, the GTIN begins with a GS1 (UCC/EAN) Company Prefix (formerly UCC Manufacturer Block ID) that is associated with your account. The compliance check can be applied to all GTIN types except EO and UA. For more information about compliance checks, see Section 8 "Working with Compliance Checks," .

Each GTIN identifier is unique in the vendor catalogue.

Note: A GTIN can exist in catalogues of a manufacturer (account type V) and one or more distributors (account type D).

Correct check digit appears.

GTIN numbers meet the requirements of the associated GTIN type. See“GTIN Number Structures” .

Note: Catalogue does not perform GTIN validation of mock GTINs for Intelligent Web Forms (IWF) customers whose accounts are set up to allow mock GTINs.
